Maya's
Fund

We
need your help! Sweet Maya severely broke her leg on
4/28. After the initial
review of her x-rays, it was apparent she needed to immediately
see an orthopedic surgeon. Maya's
hind left leg was broken in at least 3, possibly 4 places.
Yes, it would have been much
cheaper to
just amputate her leg, but that's not what Amazing Aussies is all about.
We will always do whatever
we can to provide the best quality of life possible for our
fosters.
We are happy to report the surgery was a great success and Maya
will regain full use of her leg
in approximately 8 - 10 wks. Maya came home today and is
resting as comfortable as possible.
Here are the x-rays both pre and post surgery. Click on
the picture for an enlarged version.
She had a total of 14 screws along with the plate. The
small dashes are incision staples.

Maya gets to leave the hospital!

We would like to
thank Dr. Ross Lirtzman, DVM ,Veterinary Surgical Specialists of
Scottsdale for
literally putting Maya's leg back together again and ultimately
giving her back the use of her leg.

Latest Arrivals!
Roxie
and Zoey
(pics
coming soon!)
Roxie and Zoey are approximately 6 wks old. They are
beautiful little girls.
Both are deaf. Roxie seems to be a bit more vision
impaired than her sister Zoey.
They are typical aussie puppies that love to play.
Stevie

This
beautiful girl is in urgent need of a foster home. She was
an owner dump at a local
shelter. Stevie is deaf and blind, about 25 lbs, and
looks to be a Cattle Dog/Aussie mix.
She's very dirty and scared to death...just goes stiff and hits
the ground if you try to move her.
She can be picked up and carried, but remains stiff. If
you touch her head, she hits the ground again.
The information left on her indicates she's good with kids.
We tried some friendly dogs with her and
she just stood still and let them sniff her.
**Stevie Updates*
(4/14)
Stevie is now safe
in a foster home. Thank you to everyone who offered to
help this special girl.
She visited our vet today, where she had an overall checkup as
well as blood drawn. In addition to the
normal
blood panel, we're also checking to make sure she does not have
Valley Fever, Tick Fever, Heartworm, etc.
Stevie
has primarily slept since her arrival, and is still not too
interested in checking out her new surroundings...
although she
does give great little kisses when you give her some loving.
We'll continue to provide periodic updates
on her progress.
(4/28)
Stevie is
taking her time but adjusting well. She is still terrified
of being picked up (we're thinking some type of
previous abuse must have caused this extreme fear), but at least
she will now politely solicit attention. Stevie is starting to
play with her foster siblings and is using the doggie door with no
problems. Her confidence will continue to improve
with the patience and love being provided by her foster family!
Marlee

Marlee is a beautiful deaf and vision
impaired 4 month old sweetheart. She plays great with
other dogs...
both large and small...as well as kitties. Marlee is
learning basic hand signal commands. She is able to
navigate well around her surroundings and is a very confident
girl.
